LAHORE: Lahore police made foolproof security arrangements for the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) public gathering at Minar-e-Pakistan on Sunday. At least 2,000 officials along with additional SPs, DSPs and SHO were deployed for security duties at the MMA gathering. Walk-through gates and metal detectors were used to ensure foolproof security. Police officials were deployed on rooftops of nearby buildings. Nobody was allowed to enter the venue without frisking.
Police conducted a search and sweep operation in and around the venue before and during the rally to avert any untoward incident. Similarly, 700 traffic wardens along with two SPs, 11 DSPs, 71 patrolling officers and 44 senior traffic wardens performed duties. Traffic police also arranged two breakdowns and eight forklifters to maintain the smooth flow of traffic. To accommodate the participants’ vehicles, parking lots were established at Greater Iqbal Park, Data Nagar Phattak, Kashmiri Gate, Moochi Gate, Nasir Bagh and Forest Department, Ravi Road.
