Book on Quaid-e-Azam receives NBF award

The National Book Foundation (NBF) working under the Pakistan government’s cabinet division has awarded the Best Book Award to “Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah: Education, Struggle and Achievements” under the category “Quaid-e-Azam, Allama Mohammad Iqbal and Pakistan Movement”.
The book has been authored by the vice chancellor of Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU), Dr Muhammad Ali Shaikh.
The book thoroughly investigates the academic life of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah with the help of his educational records available at his alma mater, SMIU, the nation’s founder spent the longest period of his life, from 1887 to 1892. Records from other educational institution where Jinnah studied including Church Mission School (CMS) Karachi and Lincoln’s Inn of London were also included.
According to SMIU officials, Dr Shaikh has authored other books as well including the authorised biography of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto titled “Benazir Bhutto: A Political Biography” published in 2000 and “Satellite Television and Social Change in Pakistan: A Case Study of Rural Sindh” published in 2007.
Entries for the NBF award, which carries a cash reward worth Rs70,000, had been invited from authors and publishers through an advertisement in September 2014.
The entries received were evaluated by experts and the decision was made on their recommendation.
