Work on BRT in full swing: CM
NOWSHERA: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak said on Saturday that work on the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project was being carried out in full swing and it would be completed in a record eight-month time.
He said that when the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) formed its government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the province was badly hit by terrorism.
He said the investors were moving out of the province due to the poor law and order. The chief minister said that the infrastructure in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was in tatters and the schools and hospitals were destroyed. “First of all, our government carried out legislation to correct the faulty and obsolete system. We introduced reforms to revamp it,” he recalled.
Pervez Khattak said that the PTI was the first political party that honoured its pledges made with the people and carried out uplift work as per the election manifesto.
He was speaking at a dinner hosted in his honour by Mian Humayun Shah Kakakhel, who is the custodian of Ziarat Kaka Sahib Shrine. He announced support to PTI and Chief Minister Pervez Khattak in the next general election.
Earlier, the chief minister also spoke at a reception hosted by Village Council Nazim Salaram Khan at Katikhel village in Pahari Union Council.
District Nazim Liaqat Khattak, Member National Assembly Dr Imran Khattak and others were present on the occasion. Pervez Khattak said that the elections would be held on schedule as there was no reason for the delay.
He maintained that certain MPAs were expelled from the party for selling their votes in the Senate election, claiming that PTI had documentary proof about horse-trading.
The chief minister also defended the Billion Tree Tsunami as a success story, saying it was one of the innovative projects of the PTI government.
We have also taken numerous steps to boost tourism. We also abolished all illegal structure in Nathiagali and improved infrastructure in Kalam valley.
