Rawalpind : Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation conducted a grand anti-encroachment operation at Raja Bazaar, Bara Bazaar, City Saddar Road, Iqbal Road, China Market and Namak Mandi Bazaar here on Saturday.

Assisted by a large contingent of police, the civic body team was led by Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation (RMC) Chief Officer Shafqat Raza.

Talking to ‘The News’ Shafqat Raza said that operation will continue till the removal of all encroachments from city. “I will never spare violators at any cost,” he added. He also said that he will also take action against departmental staff for their helping the encroachment mafia.

He said that they warned violators many a times but shopkeeper violate the rules and regulations continuously. It seemed that encroachment mafia does not pay heed to the warnings of concerned department. Therefore, the operation was launched against them, he said.

During operation, the enforcement staff with the help of police confiscated the electronic appliances placed out of the shops. The enforcement squad also removed the stallholders and also took away with them a number of pushcarts on the occasion. The traffic wardens also helped RMC in this operation.

The violators resisted the operation in strong manner and also protested. But, RMC without any fear continued crackdown against encroachment mafia and smoothen traffic flow all around Raja Bazaar.
