ANF recovers drugs worth Rs598m

The anti-narcotics force (ANF) conducted five operations at Attock, Dera Ghazi Khan, Peshawar and Karachi, which resulted in recovery of 21.5 kilogram heroin and 187 kilogram charas. During these operations, ANF also arrested six drug traffickers and seized three vehicles. The value of recovered drugs approximately amounts to Rs598 million in international market.
Most of the recovered drugs were intended for local consumption. Most of the recovered heroin was destined abroad, a spokesman of the ANF Headquarters said Thursday.
ANF Rawalpindi Road Check Team, intercepted a Suzuki Mehran car no. LZC-4470 near Iqbal Shaheed Toll Plaza, GT Road, Attock and recovered 5.5 kilogram heroin concealed in it. An accused on board namely Faqir, resident of Nowshehra was also arrested during the operation. As per initial reports, the accused was coming from Peshawar and intended to deliver heroin to a local paddler at rural area of Attock.
ANF Lahore road check team seized a Toyota Hiace no. LRO-6168 near Grid Station, Sakhi Sarwar Road, Dera Ghazi Khan and recovered 11 kilogram charas concealed in it. An accused namely Zahir Shah, resident of Loralai, driver of the vehicle was also arrested during the operation.
According to initial information the accused was coming from Balochistan and intended to deliver drugs to local peddlers at Dera Ghazi Khan.
ANF Peshawar acted upon an intelligence report, seized a Nissan Truck bearing registration no. PT-0457 near Bagh-e-Naran Chowk, Hayatabad, Peshawar.
During search of the vehicle, 146 kilogram charas was recovered from improvised cavities of the vehicle. Two persons on board namely Sabir Khan, resident of North Waziristan and Said Badshah, resident of Bannu were arrested on the spot. As per preliminary reports, the drugs were intended to be smuggled to Karachi for local distribution.
ANF Peshawar Airport team during routine profiling at Peshawar Airport, detained a passenger namely Muhammad Khalid, resident of Peshawar and recovered 16 kilogram heroin concealed in his trolley bag. He intended to board for Ivory Coast via Doha by Qatar Airline.
ANF Karachi in an information based operation conducted at a place situated near Singer Chowrangi, Industrial Area Korangi, Karachi, recovered 30 kilogram charas from personal possession of an accused Murad Bux, resident of Malir, Karachi. According to reports, the accused is involved in supply of drugs to nearby localities.
