‘MMA to launch movement from Minar-e-Pakistan’
LAHORE: Preparations are under way for MMA public meeting at Minar-e-Pakistan on May 13 and all component parties have been given a task to bring maximum number of participants to the venue. Punjab MMA leaders visited the venue on Wednesday to review the arrangements and later addressed a press conference to express confidence that MMA’s public meeting would mark the launch of its movement for pulling the country and nation out of the prevailing mess and would give a clear agenda to the countrymen in this respect.
The press conference was addressed by MMA Secretary General Liaquat Baloch alongwith the members of the organising committee of the public meeting including Maulana Amajd Khan, Allama Arif Wahidi, Shafiq Pasroori and others.
Liaquat Baloch said all the parties in MMA believed in the supremacy of the Constitution and political, democratic and constitutional struggle. He said, according to media reports, efforts were being made to gather some other religious parties against the MMA. However, he said MMA was the proper platform that could unite the nation and also forge unity among the patriotic and Islam loving forces against secular and exploitative forces.
He said MMA would bring around the entire religious leadership for stability, progress and a bright future of the country. He said feudal lords, vaderas and capitalists had defamed politics in the country but the MMA would give a firm commitment to shake the status quo.
He demanded holding of elections on schedule and added the courts did not have any authority to delay the elections.
