Girl gang-raped in Manga Mandi
LAHORE: An 18-year-old girl was gang raped in the Manga Mandi area. The girl (R) alleged that she was gang raped by some locals. Police have registered a case on her complaint.
Poisonous food claims life: An MPhil student expired in a hospital on Sunday, a few hours after his condition went critical due to taking poisonous food. The youth identified as Jasim hailed from Turbat. He was doing MPhil in political science from Punjab University. On the day of the incident, his condition went critical due to eating poisonous food. He was rushed to hospital from his Faisal Town flat. He died at the hospital. The body has been removed to morgue.
Man held: Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) arrested a man at Allama Iqbal International Airport and seized 500 gram heroin from his possession. ANF officials arrested Khalid Khan for trying to smuggle heroin to Dubai. ANF has registered.
PHP: Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) claimed to have arrested 159 criminals, including 47 proclaimed offenders (POs). PHP teams seized four Kalashnikoves, four rifles, 48 pistols, two guns, 680 bullets, 603 litre liquor and 12,216 gram charas from the possession of the arrested persons.
Besides rendering help to 3,299 travellers, PHP teams also reunited seven children named Tayyab, Najam Shah, M Shoaib, Ali Hanzla, Sami Ullah, Yasir Khan and M Hamad with their parents.
Motorway Police:: The National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP), South Zone, reunited an eight-year-old boy with his family. The boy was found crying on motorway near Babu Sabu in the area of Beat 12. He was identified as Muhammad Sabir, son of Mukhtar. The police officers took him into their custody, made announcements in the locality and traced his parents after hectic efforts. His family thanked the NH&MP officers for their help.
Nurse injured: A nurse was injured when some bricks from the ceiling of a room fell on her at Nursing Hostel II at Mayo Hospital on Sunday. The nurse was admitted to Mayo Hospital where her condition was stated to be stable.
Protest: The residents of Shalimar staged a protest demonstration on Sunday against the Shalimar investigation police for not arresting a criminal. The locals alleged that the Shalimar investigation police were not arresting a man, Chehda Pehlwan, who was involved in many criminal cases. The protesters chanted slogans against the police and demanded immediate arrest of the accused.
Man dies:: A man was killed and three others were injured in a collision between a trailer and a rickshaw at Kot Abdul Malik in the Shahdara area on Sunday. A rashly-driven trailer hit a rickshaw, killing a man and injuring three others. The injured were admitted to hospital where the condition of two of them was stated to be critical.
pipeline blasts: Two people were injured when a gas pipeline exploded in the Garhi Shahu area on Sunday. Rescuers removed the victims to hospital. The explosion splintered the glass of windowpanes of the nearby buildings.
