16 labourers killed as two coalmines collapse
QUETTA: At least 16 miners were killed and 12 others injured due to collapse of two coalmines in two separate incidents here near Marwar area on Saturday. Deputy Commissioner Quetta Dr Farukh Attique said the victims were working when the coalmines fell down on them due to gas explosions. Sixteen bodies of miners were pulled out from under the debris by local rescue teams including law-enforcement agencies. The teams also rescued 12 injured persons. The bodies and the injured were shifted to Civil Hospital where the injured were stated to be out of danger by the hospital sources. The nine bodies were identified as Raheem, Muhammad Bashir, Abdul Waheed, Khalid, Nasrullah, Abdulla Khan, Abdul Haq, Liaqat Ali and Abdul Latif. The law-enforcement agencies including Frontier Corps, Levies force and police were trying to rescue other victims from the coalmines.
