89 police officers rewarded

LAHORE: Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Arif Nawaz Khan has said punishment and reward have vital position in Police Department. He expressed these views while addressing a prize distribution ceremony held for the officers and officials of different districts of Punjab.

DIG R&D Ahmad Ishaq Jahangir, DIG Headquarters Shehzada Sultan, AIG Operations Imran Mehmud, SP Legal Qamar uz Zaman and Abdul Hameed Bhatti were awarded commendatory certificates for devising the draft of police rules in the light of Police Ordinance 2002 while 89 officers and officials from Sheikhupura , Sahiwal, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Khushab, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Mandi Bahuddin and Raheemyar Khan were awarded commendatory certificates and cash prizes worth over Rs 3.4 million.

The IG praised the officers and officials while giving those rewards and said that they were the pride of police force as they fought against anti-social elements. He said the other officers and officials should follow them.

He said the tradition of rewarding and encouraging officers and officials for their best performance was a significant. He said more than Rs 90 million cash prizes with certificates had been awarded to 1,070 officers and officials from December 2014 to up till now.

He said instructions had been issued to the DPOs for encouragement of the personnel who performed well during their duties. He said the ceremonies to encourage the dutiful officials would be held both at the central and district level.He said dishonest and incompetent officers and officials had no place in the department.
