JAMRUD: Tribal elders staged protest against the deployment of Frontier Corps personnel and Pakistan Customs staff on the Pakistan-Afghanistan Highway in Jamrud tehsil on Wednesday.
The elders, including Malik Salahuddin, Malik Wazir Akbar, Haji Ahmed Shah, Malik Khan Afzal and others said that Khassadar force personnel had been performing duty at the checkpoints on the highway when the law and order situation was critical.
They pointed out that several Khassadars lost their lives on the highway for maintaining law and order during the peak of militancy. They said that Khassadars were being replaced by the personnel of Pakistan Customs and Frontier Corps when the law and order situation had improved. They demanded withdrawal of the decision.
Meanwhile, Katiakhel tribesmen staged protest against Line Officer Amjad for allegedly injuring one Ishaq. They demanded initiation of an inquiry against the accused officer.
