PFB to help raise varsities’ baseball teams

LAHORE: Pakistan Federation Baseball (PFB) is making all out efforts to promote baseball at grass-root level.

A spokesman of the PFB while talking to The News said on Monday that presently PFB president Syed Fakhar Ali Shah is in Karachi for the promotion of the game in Sindh. He met Vice Chancellors of different universities in Karachi to introduce the game at university level.

During meeting with Dr Sarosh Hashmat Lodhi Vice, Chancellor NED University of Engineering and Technology, the VC appreciates the efforts of PFB for the promotion of baseball in Sindh. He assured his full support to prepare his university baseball team for the participation in Inter-varsity Baseball Championship.

The VC asked Fakhar to organise an exhibition baseball match after Ramzan-ul-Mubarak in Karachi to introduce game among students. Fakhar said that federation will provide baseball equipment and coaches to the NED University.

Prof Dr. M. Afzal Haque, Vice Chancellor Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology, also appreciates the efforts of PFB for promoting the game in Sindh. He also assured his full support to prepare his university baseball team for the participation in Inter-Varsity Baseball Championship. Fakhar also met Muhammad Altaf Tai Chairman (Southern Region) Association of Builders and Developers of Pakistan (ABAD). Altaf assured his full support and help for the promotion of baseball game. He said that ABAD will help Pakistan Federation Baseball during National and International baseball events. President PFB has also donated baseball equipment to the Sindh Baseball Association for the promotion of the game.
