LAHORE: Police made foolproof security arrangements for the PTI’s public gathering held at Minar-e-Pakistan on Sunday.
At least 2,000 officials along with additional SPs, DSPs and SHO were deployed for security duty of the PTI’s gathering. Walk-through gates and metal detectors were used to ensure security. Police officials were deployed on the rooftops of the nearby buildings. Nobody was allowed to enter the venue without frisking. The horse mounted policemen patrolled the congested areas.
At least 11 DSPs, 48 inspectors, 90 patrolling officers and 710 traffic wardens performed duty on the occasion. The traffic moving towards Shahdara from The Mall and Secretariat passed through Outfall Road and from Suggian to Ring Road. Traffic remained open from Shahdara Chowk to Old Ravi Bridge.
The Mall, Jail Road, Canal Road, Ferozepur Road, Lahore Ring Road, Lower Mall Road and Outfall Road remained open for all kinds of traffic. Heavy traffic was diverted from Kala Shah Kako, Kot Abdul Malik, Faizpur Interchange, Al-Moeed Chowk, Shahdara Chowk, Bagum Kot Chowk and Barkat Pulli.
