LAHORE: A combined investigation team of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore has summoned again Principal Secretary to Prime Minister, Fawad Hassan Fawad, in bureau’s ongoing probe into alleged irregularities in Punjab Land Development Company (PLDC).

It has learnt that the bureau has summoned again Fawad by April 27 (today) as he failed to submit query sheet or questioner earlier provided to him by the bureau. Earlier, a letter was issued to Fawad by the bureau stating that an inquiry has revealed that you are in possession of information and evidence regarding award and cancellation of contract in respect Ashiana-e-Iqbal Project launched by PLDC.

After which Fawad had appeared before the bureau’s CIT and a questioner was handed over to him regarding the probe.

However, Fawad failed to fill and submit the questioner to bureau. As per NAB, the bureau, after detecting alleged irregularities in PLDC affairs had launched investigations into an agreement signed between the PLDC and M/s Anhui Construction Engineering Group owned by Ali Sajjad, M/s Bismillah Engineering Company owned by Nadeem Zia and M/s Sparco Group for the Ashiana project.

It has learnt that M/s Latif and M/s Conpro were two competitors in Ashiana Iqbal bidding, however contract was awarded to M/s Latif being lowest. Later, Fawad Hassan allegedly called project director of Ashiana Iqbal and asked him to cancel this contract illegally.

The NAB had received a number of complaints regarding the deal involving 3,000 kanals of government land between the PLDC and the companies mentioned above. Some 6,700 apartments on 1,000 kanals were to be constructed and some 2,000 kanals were to be given to these companies.
