Army officer stresses religious scholars role in maintaining peace
KHAR: Sector Commander North of Pakistan Army Brigadier Amir Kiani on Wednesday urged the religious scholars to play role in creating awareness regarding maintaining peace in the region.
He said this while speaking at a meeting of religious scholars’ in Bajaur Agency here. He said that maintaining peace in the region was responsibility of every citizen.
Political Agent Amir Khattak, Commandant Bajaur Scouts, Rehman Qadar, APA Nawagai and a large number of religious scholars were present.
He said that anti-state elements were sabotaging peace in the region. “It is our responsibility to stand united against the enemies of the country,” he said, adding that the enemies were defaming Masajid and seminaries.
The official asked the religious scholars to keep a vigilant eye on the terrorists to maintain peace in the country. Religious scholars had played vital role in the creation of Pakistan, he added.
