LAHORE: A Lahore High Court full bench on Wednesday directed Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT)’s counsel to submit again the record in proper order which he furnished to establish their claim about involvement of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and others in 2014 Model Town incident. The bench led by Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan returned the record to the counsel as it was not in proper order and court was unable to understand it.

The bench adjourned further hearing till May 11 and also directed former inspector general police of Punjab Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera to ensure his appearance on each hearing. The bench was hearing an appeal of the PAT against a decision of an anti-terrorism court about rejection of its private complaint to the extent of then prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and federal and provincial ministers of the PML-N government.

During the course of hearing, PAT’s counsel Rai Bashir objected to the arguments of Prosecutor General of Punjab Eihtesham Qadir Shah, saying prosecutor had tried to give an impression as if he were a counsel of the accused persons and not of the state.

However, he could not justify his objection when asked by the bench to point out any statement of the prosecutor, which he deemed was not appropriate for the state’s lawyer. Justice Khan rejected the objection and observed that the prosecutor was just responding the queries of the bench.
