ISLAMABAD: Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah on Monday warned all stakeholders that a conflict among the national institutions was dangerous that could cause the governance system to collapse.

“I always gave this message at every place and in the rallies that conflict among the national institutions will create problems for the democratic system and put the country’s sovereignty and integrity into trouble,” he said while talking to newsmen in his chamber at the Parliament House. He said the system would suffer whether confrontation was done by the judiciary or any political party.

He said the conflict between the government and the judiciary was taking a dangerous turn. “Nawaz Sharif should avoid anti-judiciary remarks. The chief justice should also avoid such remarks, as judges speak through their judgments.

“When the court will speak from behind a rostrum, others will get a chance to claim that the court has its mind already made up,” the opposition leader said. He said the current situation was worrisome for the PPP, as it had rendered numerous sacrifices for democracy.

To a question, the opposition leader asserted that the federal government did not have the mandate to table the budget for financial year 2018-19. “The Sindh government will present the budget as it was a necessity. If the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government did not present the budget, then there will be no funds for running the government affairs after June 30,” he said.

Replying to another question with regard to withdrawal of security to unauthorised persons, he warned that accusations would be hurled at the court if anything untoward happened to politicians.

“Benazir was martyred after Musharraf took back her security while suicide attacks on Asfandyar Wali Khan, Aftab Sherpao and Maulana Fazlur Rehman have also occurred in the past, “he said. To yet another question, the opposition leader said he had already stated that Nawaz Sharif will get back from London, and ifhe had not returned, his political war would have plummeted to zero. “The PPP never did politics to place the name of Nawaz Sharif on the Exit Control List,” he said. He prayed for an early recovery of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz adding, “I pray to Allah Almighty for an early recovery of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz as she had struggled for democracy.”
