Alleged rapist arrested

CHITRAL: The police on Monday arrested the accused who had allegedly molested an 11-year old girl near Lowari Pass, an official said.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Investigation Tariq Karim said the accused Maqbool Ahmad was arrested in a raid. He said that the accused had kidnapped a grade-V student when she was returning home after attending school.

The accused took the girl to the nearby forest and molested her and left her unconscious there. Later, the parents started search for the girl when she did not return home till late.They found her unconscious in the woods and shifted her to the tehsil headquarters hospital in Drosh.

The police arrested the accused within 24-hour of the crime and produced him before a local court. The court remanded the accused in the police custody. Tariq Karim claimed that the accused had confessed to the crime.
