Healthcare experts are of the opinion that quackery is one of the leading causes of mortality and morbidity in the country. Most of the victims belong to lower income families who do not have an access to quality healthcare. Evidence has suggested that a significant number of medical centres are run by quacks. The Pakistan Medical Association revealed that these were 10,000 quacks running clinics and maternity homes in different parts of Punjab alone.
These people run advertising companies luring innocent and less educated people. There are reasons to believe that the rapid spread of Hepatitis, HIV and other blood-borne deceases has much to do with this malpractice. The government should launch a vigorous campaign against these quacks and save the lives of ailing people.
