LAHORE: Five of the six races scheduled to be held at the Lahore Race Club are Turbat Plates while the only Flora Plate is one of the main contests of the day slated for Sunday.
The fourth and fifth races of the day are going to be keenly watched by the followers of the sport because some of the top ponies are there to pose challenge to rest of the competitors. Big Bravo is favourits for the Flora Plate while the fifth race has Dangal believed to be the best bet. The first three and the last race are to be stretched to 1000 metres while the main races are of 1300 and 1100 metres respectively.
On the other hand the final race of the day, which is a mix of eight ponies did not have any favorite with reason being that these are of the minimum age of three years and maximum seven. All the participants of this race are old timers of their era. A five year old thoroughbred Malika tops the list of 17 ponies in run for the top honour in the opening race of the day. In this Class-VII and Division-V race, Neel Kanwal, fluke Great Poma may pose challenge to the favourite. The second race of the day is of Class-VII and Division-IV and V and is being participated by 18 ponies and a four year aged Chan Punjabi is favourite.
Favourite for win in the Class-VII and Division-II and III third race is Zaheer Princess. This four year old equine has to face the challenge from Neeli The Great and Safdar Princess. The fourth race is one of the main which has Big Bravo as the favouirte while the other two marked ponies Pippin Street and Dardawan cannot be written off for taking any position. In the fifth Class-VI and Division-III&IV race, Dangal is the favourite from among 10 ponies entries. Delectable and Dazzling Queen are the other two who could surprise.
The final race of the day is of Class-VII and Division-l with no one being the favourite.
