Abbasi, Nawaz discuss names for interim setups

LONDON: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Saturday called on Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Quaid Nawaz Sharif here on Saturday.
Both the leaders deliberated upon the names for the caretaker governments in the Centre and provinces.
Later, talking to newsmen, he said the PML-N would carry forward the slogan of sanctity of vote during its electioneering for the upcoming general election. The prime minister said there is be no one who would oppose the sanctity of the vote. Prime Minister Abbasi, who is in London to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2018, said the PML-N would contest the election and succeed too.
To a question, he said the name of caretaker prime minister would be decided by him and Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah. To another question about the return of former prime minister from London, he said Nawaz Sharif came from Pakistan and would return there.
Responding to a query, the prime minister said budget making was the responsibility of his Adviser on Finance, Revenue and Economic Affairs Miftah Ismail, who was performing the job.
PPI adds: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi urged the international community to respond to the current human rights situation in Indian Held Kashmir. This he stated during a meeting with the UK Prime Minister Theresa May on the sidelines of the Commonwealth leaders retreat in London. The prime minister also informed her of Pakistan’s efforts in fighting terrorism and extremism. He underscored the importance of strengthening bilateral relations especially in the context of trade and investment and appreciated appointment of a trade envoy by the UK government to help explore trade and investment opportunities between the two countries.
The prime minister also reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to peace and stability in Afghanistan.
Prime Minister May appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in fighting terrorism and appreciated Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s efforts in reaching out to Afghanistan especially during his recent visit to Kabul.
