ADVISER to Chief Minister on Health Kh Salman Rafiq has said that on the instructions of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, government is spending Rs24 billion on development of medical colleges and hospitals under Annual Development Programme (ADP).
He directed the officers concerned to ensure timely utilisation of funds for completing development projects speedily.
He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting to review progress on development projects of different institutions under ADP of Health Department at Civil Secretariat, according to a handout issued here Sunday.
The meeting reviewed setting up of kidney transplant and dialysis unit with Rs594 million in Bahawal Victoria Hospital Bahawalpur, up-gradation of District Headquarters Hospital Sahiwal to teaching hospital level, setting up of a cardiology unit in the hospital at a cost of Rs401 million, and construction of phase II of Sheikh Zayed Hospital, Rahim Yar Khan. The meeting reviewed construction of gyne and children filter clinic and girls hostel of Rawalpindi Medical College with Rs89 million in Rawalpindi, setting up of Institute of urology and transplant at a cost of Rs1.275 billion in Rawalpindi and renovation of Benazir Bhutto Hospital with Rs98 million. The meeting was informed that DHQ Hospital Dera Ghazi Khan was being upgraded to a teaching hospital for which Rs400 million had been allocated this year. DHQ Hospital Gujrat has been affiliated with Government Nawaz Sharif Medical College Gujrat.
