Govt trying to harm JPSM: MNA
MULTAN: Junoobi Punjab Sooba Mahaz (JPSM) vice-president MNA Tahir Iqbal Chaudhry Monday said the creation of a new province was inevitable and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) efforts to counter it would be foiled.
Talking to The News, the JPSM leader said unusual things were happening as the Punjab Chief Minister was consulting with south Punjab lawmakers for the first time in his five-year rule. He said it was the first achievement of the JPSM. He said creation of south Punjab province was certain and deprivations of the locals would end soon.
Tahir said the new province was a constitutional right of the locals and nobody could deny the locals of their basic right. He said the new province would strengthen the Federation and the country, saying the country needed more administrative units to facilitate the people.
Tahir said the nation should be beware of the PML-N moves of inviting MPs of south Punjab to Lahore and Islamabad, saying the government would fail in such efforts. He said the PML-N was not sincere about new province and was making efforts to break or split the JPSM. He said all such conspiracies would be foiled and the locals would defeat any move against the new province.
To a question, he said the demand for southern Punjab was very old but it took a turn when MPs from the region declared the formation of the JPSM. He also criticised the Punjab government for not procuring wheat properly.
