The loss of precious lives in the suicide attacks on churches at Lahore is inhumane and unpardonable. However, the burning of two innocent humans to death in an act of retaliation is also most condemnable. While we sympathise with the relatives of the victims, mostly Christians, our compatriots should realise that suicide bombers and their handlers spare neither Muslims nor non-Muslims. They are attacking mosques, churches and temples without any discrimination of religion, caste and creed. It is alarming that the charged crowd snatched a victim away from the police and burnt him to death. We face a deadly challenge of fighting a war on terror and have no choice but to defeat terrorists. However, the government should bring the perpetrators of the Lahore attack to book and punish those responsible for the brutal burning of two innocent humans to death. Our police force needs to be depoliticised to nab criminals. Air-Cdre (r) Mohammad Yaqoob Khan Rawalpindi
