First ever Pak TT League kicks off today
ISLAMABAD: The first ever Pakistan Table Tennis League kicks off from Sunday with the opening ceremony to be held at Jinnah Stadium Islamabad.
Following march past, leading singers including Atif Aslam would perform in front of expected more than thirty thousand crowd.
Talking to The News Syed Nadeem Mansoor, Chairman selection committee Pakistan Table Tennis Federation (PTTF) and General Secretary Islamabad Table Tennis Association said that eight teams from all over Pakistan would compete in this inaugural event to be held at the Liaquat Gymnasium Islamabad.
These teams include Karachi Karare, Lahore Usad, Islamabad Commander, Faisalabad Shair Dil, Rawal Jugni, Multan Sufian, Peshawar Dilawar and Quetta Defenders.
Nadeem Syed said that idea of the league was driven from Pakistan Super League (PSL) that took cricket following to new heights.
“We understand that table tennis does not have big following but we are hopeful that our efforts in shape of inaugural would generate interest in the game.”
Nadeem Syed said he was thankful to Director General Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Aamir Ali Ahmad for extending all possible support to make league successful.
“The league would also help generate table tennis interest amongst youth of the country.”
Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) Riaz Hussain Peerzada would be guest of honour on the opening ceremony. Nadeem Syed also praised President PTTF Kh Hasan Wadood and organizing secretary Shahid Balooch efforts in executing the idea.
