Charsadda Hospital staff observes strike
CHARSADDA: The staff at the Charsadda District Headquarters Hospital observed a strike on Friday to protest the registration of a case against two fellow doctors.
The protesting staff members locked the Out-Patient Department (OPD) and all were surgeries postponed.
The Health Employees Coordination Council, which spearheaded the protest, demanded withdrawal of the first information report (FIR) and bringing to justice the elements, who had damaged the hospital property the previous day. The body called for handing over the hospital security to Frontier Constabulary.
The protesting employees set a three-day deadline for acceptance of their demands and warned of discontinuing the emergency service if the administration failed to act accordingly. It may be mentioned here that an 18-year-old young man, Shafiullah, was brought to the hospital after suffering injuries in a road accident. He succumbed to injuries at the hospital.
The relatives of the deceased alleged that the staff on duty did not attend to the patient properly which led to his death. They staged a protest and allegedly damaged the hospital property. The police later registered an FIR against the two doctors.
The doctors and other staff insisted that the injured youth was examined and extended assistance but he died. They said doctors were not to blame for that.
