Dacoit, cop injured during encounter

OKARA: A dacoit and an ASI were injured during an encounter Jhakhar Chowk on Friday. Four dacoits were looting passersby on Okara-Faisalabad Highway when Gogera police rushed to the spot to arrest the dacoits. On seeing the police, the dacoits allegedly opened fire at the police party and injured ASI Muhammad Yaseen. One unidentified dacoit was also reportedly injured during the encounter. However, the dacoits escaped. Later, residents of various villages staged a demonstration and blocked Okara-Faisalabad Highway against the police for failing to arrest the dacoits. DSP Ziaul Haq rushed to the spot and assured the protesters that action action would be taken again the negligent cops.
