ZTBL continue winning streak

ISLAMABAD: ZTBL have virtually assured a place in the Patron’s Trophy Grade II semi-finals with another victory, this time a 10-wicket win against Pak Saudi at the Diamond Ground here Tuesday.

After being forced to follow on, Pak Saudi were bowled out for 151 in the second innings with Mohammad Ali (4-35) being the pick of the ZTBL bowlers. Earlier, Pak Saudi managed 131 in the first innings with Mohammad Ali taking 5-53.

ZTBL, who scored 259-1 declared in their first innings, needed 24 runs to win which they achieved without losing a wicket. The bankers have won all their matches and are well clear of their closest rivals CDA.

Scores in brief: At Diamond Ground, Islamabad: ZTBL 259-1 declared in 35 overs (Shakeel Ansar 123 not out, Saadullah Ghauri 62) and 25-0 in 3.3 overs. Pak Saudi 131 in 32.3 overs (Imtiaz Aslam 33; Muhammad Ali 5-53, Munirur Rehman Tanzil 2-6, Nasim Shah 2-31) and after follow-on 151-9 in 34.4 overs (Muhammad Akhtar 47; Muhammad Ali 4-35, Haider Ali 2-39, Munirur Rehman Tanzil 2-45). Result: ZTBL won by 10 wickets.

At Margazar Ground, Islamabad: PIA 229-1 declared in 63.4 overs (Shehzar Muhammad 115 not out, Tahir Abbas 99). Army 60-4 in 16 overs (Abdullah 20, Hasanullah 2-17). Result: Match drawn.

At Pindi Stadium, Rawalpindi: CDA 285 in 59.4 overs (Faizan Riaz 96; Muhammad Arham 4-89, Rana Shahzad Azam 3-60) and 171-4 in 26 overs (Naved Malik 87; Waqar Khan 2-11). OGDCL 197 in 39 overs (Zohaib Ahmed 52, Muhammad Miqdad 44 not out; Haroon Wahid 3-36, Kashif Ali 3-71, Amir Jamal 3-77). Result: Match drawn.
