NOWSHERA: The government on Friday approved a beautification plan for Nowshera Cantonment, a senior official said.
Garrison Commander Nowshera Major Khalid Saeed said that a comprehensive beautification plan had been prepared to convert the Nowshera Cantonment into green belt. Speaking at a spring festival and flower show here, the officer said that the provincial government had also released funds for expansion of the Jinnah Park sited in the limits of the Cantonment Board, adding the completion of the project would enhance the beauty of the park. Station Commander Brigadier Nazir Hussain, Chief Executive Officer Irfan Ahmad, Cantonment Board Vice-President Shahid Hassan Khan, other members, officials of district administration and a large number of women and children were present on the occasion.
He said the expansion of the park would be started soon to develop it as a model park. The official said the visitors including women and children were provided quality recreation facilities at the park.
He said that organising the spring and flower show was aimed at promoting the habit of growing flowers and keeping the houses and other areas clean and green. The official said that the Nowshera Cantonment Board authorities had also provided basic amenities of life to the civilian and traders despite limited resources.
He said plants helped keep the environment clean and healthy. He urged the participants to plant more saplings to contribute to a clean environment. Later, he distributed awards and commending certificates among the participants for arranging attractive flower stalls during the event.
