Two seminary students drown, 11 rescued in Charsadda
CHARSADDA: Two seminary students drowned and 11 others were rescued on Thursday as a boat capsized in Kabul River here at the Sardaryab picnic spot. The students of Madrassa Al-Sayedia had come to enjoy boating in the Kabul River at Sardaryab but their boat capsized due to strong currents in the river.
The locals and officials of the Rescue 1122 rushed to the scene and rescued 10 students and administrator of the seminary but two students drowned. The officials of the Rescue 1122 service shifted two students to the Leady Reading Hospital in Peshawar owing to their precarious condition.
The divers of the Recue 1122 and volunteers continued efforts to fish out the two bodies but were not successful till the filing of this report. The drowned students were identified as Usama and Yasir. The seminary administration had brought the students for picnic to Sardaryab. The district administration launched an investigation into the incident.
