SBP falter again, PIA in deep trouble against CDA
KARACHI: Sate Bank of Pakistan (SBP) once again faltered in batting when they were bowled out for 165 by Navy in their first innings on the first day of their three-day third round Group A fixture of Patron’s Trophy Grade-II here at the SBP Ground on Wednesday.
Sahibzada Farhan scored 41-ball 31, hitting five fours. Rizwan Hussain made 34 and Umar Waheed scored 26.Raza-ul-Hasan got 3-31, while Imtiaz Ali and Abdul Latif Junejo claimed two wickets each. Navy in response were 75-1 at stumps in their first innings.
In the other outing of Group A, here at the NBP Sports Complex, Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) posted 234 all out in their first innings against Omar Associates with Abid Ali scoring 78 off 149 balls, smashing eight fours. Ghulam Rehman captured 4-57. Omar Associates were 27-1, in response, at close.
At Pindi Stadium, Capital Development Authority (CDA) were in extremely strong position as after dismissing PIA for 140 they had reached 203-3 in their first innings. Faizan Riaz was at the crease on 53. Umar Kiyani (51) and Naved Malik (50) also made fine fifties.
PIA’s batting failed against superb bowling by Aamer Jamal, who picked 8-40.At UBL Sports Complex here, Haideri Traders had reached 128-3 in their first innings after dismissing K-Electric for 143. Momin Waqar made 40 and Mohammad Asif scored 38. Asad Raza captured 2-33.
In a Group B game, at Jinnah Stadium, Gujranwala, Karachi Port Trust (KPT) posted 295-7 in the allotted 83 overs in their first innings against Port Qasim Authority (PQA). The hallmark of KPT’s innings was Anas Mehmood’s splendid 159. Anas smashed 16 fours and two sixes in his 238-ball knock. Nadeem Javed struck 75-ball 77 with 11 fours and one six. Left-arm spinner Azam Hussain got 3-130. PQA were gasping at 35-3 in reply at stumps.
At Rana Naved Cricket Academy Ground, Sheikhupura, Pakistan Air Force (PAF) were folded for 337 in their first innings by Ahmed Glass with Awais Iqbal and Mohammad Shehzad scoring 66 runs each.Abdullah Nawaz and Aftab Azwar claimed three wickets each. Ahmed Glass reached 46-1 in their first innings in response.
Army perished for 337 in their first innings against Pak Saudi at the Army Cricket Ground in Rawalpindi. Muzaffar Iqbal hit 77 off 88 balls with 12 fours. Mohammad Nafees chipped in with 72 off 91 balls, striking seven forus. Mohammad Tanveer hit 50. Mohammad Akhtar got 4-125.
In response, Pak Saudi were 46-1. Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) were bowled out by OGDCL for 278 in their first innings at Diamond Club Ground, Islamabad. Wicketkeeper batsman Shakeel Ansar struck 61, while Saad Nasim (54) and Bilawal Iqbal (51*) also made fine fifties.
Waqar Khan got 3-90. Mohammad Faisal and Mohammad Arham captured two wickets each. OGDCL were struggling at 11-3 in response.In a Group D match, at Railways Stadium, Lahore, Railways cemented their position when after folding HEC for 145 they reached 140-2 in 41 overs in their first innings. Ghani Glass posted 297-9 in the allotted 83 overs in their first innings against Sabir Poultry at LCCA Ground, Lahore.Sabir Poultry were 11 without loss in response.
