SUKKUR: A group of faculty members of the Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur, continued with their token hunger strike near the office of the Vice Chancellor the other day.
The faculty members of the Progressive Friends, led by Prof Dr Amir Ahmed Khuhro, Prof Dr Abdul Hussain Shar and Ishrat Ali Mirani, continued with the “Stop corruption, save university movement”. Earlier, the teachers took out a protest rally which was attended by a large number of teachers. They alleged that due to irregularities, the name of the Shah Abdul Latif University has been maligned. They said the Vice Chancellor is facing three different corruption references at NAB and she is on protective bail.
They charged that several teachers are enjoying perks of senior administrative and faculty positions despite their junior positions. They accused the Examination and the Admission Wing of large scale corruption.
They charged that the university laboratories do not have chemicals and not even potable water is available to students. They also charged the university administration of nepotism in considering promotions of the faculty.
