The shortage of water in Karachi continues to take toll on the lives of residents. Unfortunately, the relevant authorities have not taken concrete steps to tackle the issue in an effective manner. The supply of water in most parts of the city remains halted for a couple of days, forcing hapless residents to spend thousands of rupees to buy water from the tanker mafia.
While the rich can easily buy water, the poor are left to rely on other difficult means to get water. In some parts of the city, residents walk up to one kilometre to fetch water. The authorities concerned must look into this problem and ensure uninterrupted supply of water in all areas of the city.
