Mother gets child’s custody

LAHORE: An Additional District and Sessions Court Judge Tasleem Akhtar Thursday handed over a minor girl to her mother after getting her recovered from the illegal custody of father. Shaista Zaid, a resident of Iqbal Town, had filed a habeas corpus petition in the court contending that her husband Zaid Ali kicked her out from his house over a domestic issue and didn’t allow her to bring her three-year old daughter.

She implored the court for the recovery of her daughter. On her plea, the court appointed a bailiff who raided the house of Zaid and found minor there. The bailiff produced the girl before the court from where she was handed over to her mother.

found dead: A 40-year-old man was found dead in the Islampura police area on Thursday. The victim yet to be identified was found dead near a filling station on Katchehry Road. Police said he was a drug addict who died of an overdose of drugs.

Liquor seized: The personnel of a sensitive agency arrested two accused and seized 18 bottles of imported liquor from their custody in the North Cantt police area on Thursday. The officials signalled a car to stop and arrested Tahir and his accomplice Salamat Masih. A case has been registered.

Fires: Fires broke out at four different places in the City and reduced valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees to ashes on Thursday. Rescue 1122 firefighters reached the scenes and controlled the fires. In Nishtar Colony, a fire erupted at a petrol agency near Glexo Town, Youhannabad, due to unknown reason. A fire erupted at a school at Faisal Town. Fires broke out in two houses in Nawan Kot and Johar Town due to short circuits.
