KARACHI: An Anti-Terrorism Court here on Thursday remanded former SSP Malir Rao Anwar into police custody for 30 days in the Naqeebullah Mehsud murder case.

The under suspension police officer was shifted to Karachi following his arrest from the Supreme Court premises on Wednesday. The SP Malir Investigation Abid Qaimkhani presented Rao before the ATC in tight security included over 20 mobiles and two armoured personnel carriers.

The police requested the court to grant a 30 day physical remand of the suspect as he cannot be presented very often owing to security reasons. Approving the police request, the ATC judge allowed the investigators to keep Rao Anwar with them for a month on physical remand. A case was registered against Rao Anwar in the Naqeebullah murder case at the Sachal police station under sections 302, 365, 344, 109 and 34 of the PPC read with Section 7 of the Anti Terrorism Act 1997.
