Highway to death
There is no doubt that infrastructural developments are vital for a country’s overall economic development and provide job opportunities to the unemployed. But there has to be a timeframe within which they ought to be completed. The Islamabad metro bus project was started in 2016 and was supposed to have been completed in 2017. However, three months into 2018 and the project has yet to reach completion.
The ongoing construction of a new road network and bus stations has led to severe pollution, so much so that the dust on the Kashmir Highway has reduced visibility to a near zero. The route leading to Golra Morr, police line H-11 and G-13 from the highway has become highly dangerous for commuters. The authorities need to cement the roads and take immediate measures before a tragedy occurs.
