NOWSHERA: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Information Secretary and Member National Assembly Dr Imran Khattak said on Tuesday the Awami National Party (ANP) recent public meeting at the Pirpiai town of the Nowshera district was failed power show.

He was speaking at a public meeting at Kandi Taza Deen in Pabbi tehsil along with Member Provincial Assembly Mian Khaliqur Rehman Khattak.

Nowshera Tehsil Nazim Ahad Khattak, Pabbi Tehsil Nazim Mian Murtaza Rehman, Qazi Wadudul Haq and Riaz Ali Khan also spoke on the occasion.

Imran Khattak and Mian Khaliqur Rehman Khattak said the PTI was a popular political party and no other parties, including ANP, Pakistan People’s Party, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam could not compete with the ruling party.

They said the ANP could not hold a power show in Pirpiai despite the fact that the nationalist party had transported from other parts of the district.

The PTI leaders said the ANP leaders had leveled baseless allegations against Chief Minister Pervez Khattak.

They said had the ANP leadership been true and not looted the exchequer during their five years rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the masses would have not rejected them in the 2013 general elections.

“The fact is that people were sick of the record corruption of the ANP-led government in the province. They voted the PTI to power in the last general elections to get rid of the ANP and effect a change,” said Imran Khattak.

The MNA said the PTI government earnestly worked for changing the system and took decisions on merit. He recalled that some ANP senior leaders had in the past accused own government of corruption.

Imran Khattak said the PTI-led provincial government introduced reforms in the education, health and other sectors which had won praise from the masses.

The PTI leader said how the ANP chief Asfandyar Wali Khan could challenge the politicians to a debate as, he believed, the people had still not forgotten Syed Masoom Shah and other ANP leaders for their shady practices.

The MNA said Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has been serving the people of Nowshera for the last 35 years, adding the people had always reposed confidence in him.

“The chief minister has launched multi-billion development projects in the Nowshera district some of which have been completed and others were ongoing. The PTI will retain power in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and also form government in other provinces and at the centre,” said Imran Khattak.
