ISLAMABAD: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has sanctioned $300,000 to the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) to refurbish and renovate its Lahore headquarters, which was rendered useless by an illegal occupation.
The decision to award the grant to PFF was taken in the AFC Executive Committee meeting in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia). The meeting was chaired by AFC President Shaikh Salman Bin Ebrahim Al-Khalifa.
AFC is set to send its consultant within a week to assess damages to start initial tendering process.Another potential development is the approval of another infrastructure project in Pakistan by AFC.
“AFC has also approved another infrastructure project for PFF within the current cycle,” PFF President Faisal Saleh Hayat informed from Kuala Lumpur where he had gone to attend the meeting.
Faisal Saleh Hayat thanked AFC president, general secretary Dato Windsor John and member association department of AFC for extending genuine support to the elected football body in Pakistan.
The AFC chief congratulated the PFF president on his federation’s restoration. “The signature building at PFF Headquarters was in real bad shape when we retook the possession,” Faisal told AFC members.He thanked all the members for responding to PFF request on such a short notice.
