Institutions must work together for development: Shahbaz
LONDON/LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Tuesday reached London to inquire after the health of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz and his routine medical check-up. He will also hold meetings with the delegations of PML-N and overseas Pakistanis during his stay in the UK capital.
Talking to reporters after his arrival, the chief minister said all the institutions must work together for the development and prosperity of Pakistan. He said an environment of clash wasn’t good for the country and everyone should focus on brightening Pakistan’s future through dialogue. “We have to protect Pakistan from moving towards a clash,” Shahbaz stressed.
Earlier in the day, the chief minister said they would go to the people’s court in the next elections on basis of performance and public service, adding that the PML-N would serve the masses even better if they reposed their trust in the party yet again.
“All the people will have to work jointly to make Pakistan stronger and prosperous,” he said in a meeting with Arifa Khalid, MNA, in Lahore and added that national development and prosperity was the core agenda of the PML-N.
He said Imran Khan wasted his time in allegations instead of serving the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. “The performance of those who criticise the development projects in Punjab is zero in their provinces,” he noted.
The chief minister said u-turn, sit-in, allegations and lies were the identity of Imran who must realise that the time had come to sift facts from fiction. The people would hold accountability of negative politics in elections with the power of vote, he stressed.
Also on Tuesday, the chief minister congratulated Zalmi for their victory against the Gladiators in the first of the two PSL eliminators. “What an amazing game of cricket ... Well done Peshawar ... could only watch the most sensational last over ... Well played Quetta!” he said in a tweet.
In a earlier tweet, he said, “Warm welcome to Quetta Gladiators, Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings to Lahore .. Hope playoffs happen to be most exciting .. home crowds, home grounds and amazing display of cricketing skills will make PSL3 all the more fun .. Go and enjoy the matches”
In a separate message, the chief minister said the world should realise that Pakistan was the most peaceful and safe country where the citizens were a are great fan of cricket. International cricket and competitions of other sports would also be held in Pakistan soon, he expressed the hope. Separately, Shahbaz, in a condolence message, expressed a deep sense of sorrow over the death of Ayaz Soomro MNA.
