LAHORE: The Punjab Healthcare Commission has closed down 27 fake treatment centres of quacks in the city, and initiated proceedings against them.
According to a press release issued Monday, the PHC teams sealed 27 businesses of quacks in different parts of the city and its adjoining areas. These comprised of 19 quacks, five fake dentists, two hakeems and one bone-setter. The quacks were posing as general physicians, which included Iqbal Clinic, Ali Clinic, Tauseef Clinic, Riaz Clinic, Al-Shifa Clinic, Ali Clinic, Arshad Clinic, Amjad Clinic, Waheed Clinic, Abbas Clinic, Al-Amjad Clinic, Ilyas Clinic, Irshad Clinic, Bahoo Welfare Clinic and Hospital, Ali Tasawwar Shah Clinic, Kashif Clinic, Fatima Medical Centre, Abu Huraira Clinic and Madina Clinic. The teams also sealed five fake clinics of dentists, which were: Dental Care Clinic, Ameen Dental Clinic, Faryad Dental Clinic, Rashid Dental Care and Ali Dental Clinic. Two businesses of hakeems, including Javed Rehmat Dawakhana and Haji Ghulam Nabi Bawaseer Care Cinic, while Al-Shifa Haddi Jore was also closed down. “The PHC has sealed more than 7,950 businesses of quacks and imposed a fine of Rs61.5 million so far,” added the PHC spokesperson.
