SUKKUR: A 30-year-old man on Monday forcefully married an 11-year-old girl to settle a debt in Ubauro, District Ghotki.
According to reports, Atta Muhammad Bhutto, resident of village Hussain Bhutto, had borrowed Rs15,000 on interest from an influential landlord Dar Muhammad. The amount borrowed, along with interest, had increased to Rs55,000. However, Atta Muhammad Bhutto was unable to pay back the amount to the landlord. Reports said that Dar Muhammad, along with his father Allah Jurio, a cleric and witnesses went to Atta Muhammad’s house and forcibly married his 11-year-old daughter. Station House Officer (SHO) Imamuddin said that case had been registered against Dar Muhammad, cleric and witnesses and added that two people had been arrested. He said that the girl would be presented in court, while raids were being conducted to arrest all the accused.
