Imran has nothing to do with politics, dignity: Asfand
NOWSHERA: Awami National Party (ANP) chief Asfandyar Wali said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan seemed to be devoid of decency and decorum.
"There is no politeness and dignity in politics since the arrival of Imran Khan in this field," he sneered.
About the pledge of Imran Khan regarding the construction of over 300 dams in the province, the ANP chief said that those travelling to Hayatabad in Peshawar these days could experience the result of such hollow claims.
He said that there was a marked difference in the words and deeds of Imran Khan. "It happened for the first time in the political history of Pakistan that the treasury bench members called the chief minister corrupt in the face,” he recalled.
Asfandyar Wali said that Imran Khan and Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak ditched Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Sami (JUI-S) head Maulana Samiul Haq in the Senate election. “The heartbroken Maulana suffered a heart attack,” he said wittingly.
ANP chief launched the mass contact movement from Pirpiai village in the constituency of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister.
Talking on the occasion, Asfandyar Wali claimed that his party would emerge victorious in the 2018 general elections provided human beings cast their ballots.
“We will form the next government in the province after winning the upcoming general elections but we will be helpless if Jin and Farishtay (genies and angels) came forward to vote as they are beyond remedy,” he remarked in his speech to the crowd.
ANP district head Malik Juma Khan conducted the proceedings of the public meeting.
ANP General Secretary Mian Iftikhar Hussain, provincial head Ameer Haider Khan Hoti and others also spoke on the occasion.
Favouring the merger of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he vowed to spare no efforts to remove the line drawn by the British to divide the Pakhtuns living in KP and Fata.
He also launched a tirade against Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) and Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) chiefs and said that he didn’t know since when Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Mehmood Khan Achakzai had become the inheritors of the British colonialists. Asfandyar Wali said that those who were dreaming to win the forthcoming general elections on the strength of the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal should stop doing so as their dream would not come true.
He maintained that Jamat-e-Islami head Senator Sirajul Haq cursed the federal government while his party was enjoying power in the province.
Welcoming the opening of the dialogue process between Afghanistan and Pakistan, Asfandyar Wali said that Kabul and Islamabad should take steps to normalise the bilateral ties that got strained recently.
The ANP leader also cast aspersions on the recently held Senate elections and remarked that in the past people would comment that horses were sold but this time the entire stables were put on sale.
ANP Central Secretary General Mian Iftikhar Hussain and ANP KP President Amir Haider Hoti said Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak had claimed to end the politics of the ANP but his own term would end after 71 days. They said the countdown to his rule had started and only time would tell whose politics would vanish.
