PESHAWAR: A sum of Rs9 million would be spent on soil conservation in Malakand during the year 2017-18, said an official on Saturday.
District Conservation Officer Pir Ahmad Zeb said that under the district budget, Rs6 million would be spent on the construction of protection spurs, out of which Rs4.5 million have been released.
He said that five protection spurs have been completed at a cost of Rs2.9 million while construction work on the rest of six spurs is in full swing and would be completed soon.
He added that Rs2.85 million have been released, out of which Rs1.25 million have been spent on developmental work that is still underway.
The construction work on a dam, two ponds and one protection bund has been completed at a cost of Rs1.6 million during the current financial year 2017-18, he added.
