KARACHI: The fourth Inter-Provincial Games, carrying around 1600 players, will explode into action at Qayyum Sports Complex Peshawar on Sunday (today).
“Yes, all the participating contingents have reached Peshawar and the Games will be formally opened here tomorrow,” Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Olympic Association’s president Syed Aqil Shah told ‘The News’ from Peshawar on Saturday.
He said that KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak would be the chief guest at the opening ceremony, adding Governor KP Iqbal Zafar Jhagra would grace the closing ceremony on March 20.
In the competitions, men athletes will compete in 28 and women will feature in ten disciplines. Besides the four provinces, Islamabad, FATA, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit Baltistan will compete in the spectacle.
Shah said that tight security arrangements had been made to conduct the Games peacefully. “The services of Police and Army have been taken,” he said. A 300-member Sindh contingent is taking part in the competitions.
