A large number of people Friday gathered in Rawalpindi tehsil’s computer section and strongly protested for not receiving land ‘fard’ (land record), whereas the computer section has also closed process of registering ‘Intiqaal’ (ownership right) for more than two months.
On the other hand, Land Revenue Director (LRD), Rawalpindi Muhammad Jamshed has claimed there were hundreds of mistakes in land revenue record which ‘patwaris’ (revenue officials) had pointed and therefore they could not register ‘intiqaal’ or issue ‘fard’.
The angry protesters have appealed to Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to personally monitor computerisation system because public as per routine was facing difficulties in getting land record (‘fard’) and registration of ‘intiqaal’.
The protesters alleged that delaying tactics are being adopted by the computer section staff in issuing ‘fard’ and they were demanding ‘bribe’. The protesters including women visiting Rawalpindi Tehsil threatened to block Benazir Bhutto Road if higher authorities do not resolve their issues.
Land Revenue Director (LRD), Rawalpindi Muhammad Jamshed told ‘The News’ that they could not issue ‘fard’ or register ‘Intiqaal’ without proper monitoring as ‘Patwaris’ pointed out hundreds of mistakes in land record which they submitted to us. “Public is continuously fighting us but we are helpless before this situation,” he claimed.
