State-owned education institutions are in a deplorable condition. Teachers remain absent for major part of the academic session. These institutions are deprived of basic facilities. Taking the advantage of this miserable condition, businessmen set up private schools and colleges across the country. The fee structure in these schools is quite high and is not affordable by the majority. It has also been observed that most of these schools are more focused on making money.
The mushroom growth of private education institutions has affected the quality of education adversely. On the other hand, the poor state of government schools and colleges has left no other option for parents than to send their children to private institutions. The education department needs to take the following two steps. First, improve the state of government education institutions and ensure that students are receiving a quality education. Second, stop allowing the registration of private schools and colleges. Corrective steps should be taken to undo the damage that has been caused to the education sector.
