GCU holds walks against drug abuse
LAHORE: Government College University (GCU) Monday organised an on-campus walk and seminar to sensitise youth on drug addiction.
The walk was started from the university’s Clock Tower to Main Gate. Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Hassan Amir Shah led the walk. Faculty members, students, anti-narcotics consultant Syed Zulfiqar Hussain and Health Authority Lahore CEO Dr Yad-ullah Ali participated in the walk.
Prof Hassan called upon students to work for eradicating drugs from education institutions. He said GCU’s focus was to keep its students away from negative activities by involving them in healthy co-curricular and sports activities.
Syed Zulfiqar said parents and teachers had a major role for saving the youth from drugs. Dr Yad-ullah Ali said the Punjab government was holding awareness activities in educational institutes against drug addiction. Faculty of Science and Technology Dean Prof Islam-ullah Khan also addressed the seminar.
