KP NAB authorises inquiries

PESHAWAR: The Regional Board meeting of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has authorised inquiries against employees of Directorate of Health Services, Fata and others for their alleged corruption and corrupt practices.

According to a NAB press release, the meeting was presided over by Farmanullah Khan, Director General, NAB (KP). It was attended by other relevant officials. Several decisions were taken at the meeting.

The board authorised inquiry against employees of Directorate of Health Services, Fata and others, saying that subjects were alleged to have embezzled funds worth millions of rupees in Polio Vaccination projects in Fata.

Another inquiry was authorised against Irshad Muhammad Khan, Senior Engineer, Cantonment Board Peshawar, for allegedly accumulating assets beyond known sources of income. The accused allegedly owns residential properties in Pakistan and abroad worth millions of rupees.

The board authorized inquiry against officers and officials of Revenue Department, Malakand, after accusing them of corruption and corrupt practices and misuse of authority. The subjects are alleged to have misused authority by not willfully collecting rent since 1995 from lessees of evacuee property of central government measuring 2042 Kanal (agriculture land) at Dargai tehsil in Malakand district. Furthermore, they were accused of illegally transferring evacuee property, causing a huge loss to the national exchequer.

The board authorised inquiry against employees of Fata Secretariat and others for alleged embezzlement of funds. It is alleged that the subjects embezzled millions of funds in multiple projects in Frontier Region Bannu by awarding projects to favorites contractors and using sub-standard material/equipment.
