Amir Muqam hopes PML-N to win Senate chairman slot
NOWSHERA: Adviser to Prime Minister Amir Muqam said on Friday the candidates nominated by the Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) would become Senate chairman and deputy chairman.
He was talking to the media persons at the residence of party district chapter president, Sahibzada Hamza Pervez along with Liaqat Khattak. Amir Muqam said the nexus of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan and Pakistan People's Party leader Asif Ali Zardari would fail.
"The nation has well understood the narrative of ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif. The narrative has won recognition throughout the country," said Amir Muqam who is also the provincial president of the PML-N.
He said Nawaz Sharif ruled the hearts of the people. "The results of the recent Senate election and other by-elections are the testimony of it," said the PML-N leader while pointing out that poll symbol was taken away from his party but even then the candidates won.
Amir Muqam said that Imran-Zardari association would fail in the 2018 general election general election and the PML-N would emerge victorious under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif.
The PML-N leader was critical of Imran Khan for allegedly joining hands with Asif Ali Zardari. "The self-styled harbinger of change Imran Khan during his 22 years political life always branded Asif Ali Zardari the biggest ill of the country, a thief and dacoit. But has now left his senators at the mercy of Asif Ali Zardari through the Balochistan chief minister which shows another of his U-turns," said Amir Muqam.
The PML-N leader said Imran Khan never hnoured the promises he had made in the past and that was because of the fact that he was being controlled by someone else. "Those who had accused the PPP of horse-trading in the Senate election in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have now been forced to turn to this party," he said, alleging the PPP was involved in the sale and purchase of votes in Balochistan as well.
Amir Muqam said the PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif was waging a struggle for the sanctity of the ballot. "He will be a winner in this war," he said with surety. The PML-N leader said that people were turning up in droves at the public meetings being addressed by Nawaz Sharif in various parts of the country which proved, beyond any doubt, the growing popularity of the party Quaid. "The public meetings in Peshawar, Haripur and cities of Punjab signify this fact," he said with confidence.
Amir Muqam said Imran Khan launched and promoted the politics of sit-ins and protests which damaged the state institutions and affected the development process in the country. He said his party had launched the mass contact movement by arranging a public meeting in Peshawar, adding more such meetings would be held in other parts of the province to convey the party message to the grassroots level.
He spoke high of the former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and said he took unprecedented steps to make Pakistan strong. "It was Nawaz Sharif who made Pakistan a nuclear power, minimised the loadshedding in the country which was excessive when the present government took power, and brought China-Pakistan Economic Corridor to Pakistan which is worth 60 billion dollars," said the PML-N leader while elaborating on his statement.
