Two shot dead over money

LAHORE:Two people were shot dead by a man in the Liaqatabad area on Friday following a monetary issue.

The accused, identified as Abdullah, opened indiscriminate firing over a monetary issue at the place of one Bashir Jan, as a result, Bashir died while his son, Tanveer and an employee, Sajid, suffered wounds. The accused fled. The wounded were rushed to hospital where Sajid succumbed to his wounds. Police have removed the bodies to morgue.

Eight injured: At least eight persons were injured when a speeding van crashed into a wall on Bhobatian Chowk in the Chung area on Friday. Rescuers removed the injured to hospital. They were stated to stable. The accident took place due to the driver’s negligence, police said.

Dolphin Squad: The SP Mujahid held a meeting to review the performance of Dolphin Squad in February. He said that Dolphin Squad responded to over 3,000 calls and arrested 229 criminals during the month of February. The squad rounded up nine criminals involved in street crime and 220 criminals involved in heinous crimes. The squad registered seven cases of kite flying and 22 of wheelie. The squad also reunited five children with their parents. The police recovered 12 stolen cars and 62 bikes during snap checking. Five pistols were also seized.

bikes seized: The Anti-Vehicle Staff recovered 262 stolen cars and 214 bikes in February. The AVS also claimed to have arrested 25 criminals involved in heinous crimes.

Pirated books: A team of FIA Corporate Crime Circle on Friday conducted a raid and seized pirated books in a large number at a printing press at Ichhra.

According to FIA officials, the pirated books and printing plates were seized. The FIA arrested the owner of th printing press, Awais Khan, from there and registered an FIR under the Copyright Ordinance against him.

Impersonator: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Friday arrested a person on charges of deprving peple of money by impersonating NAB official. According to a NAB spokesman, the accused, identified as Shahzad Yousaf, was arrested in Sahiwal.

The NAB official said the accused had confessed to his crimes and also expressed his willingness to return the money to the effectees. The spokesman asked the people to report to NAB whenever they see any such practice in their surroundings.

Traffic awareness

The chief traffic officer has said that the traffic education teams are delivering traffic awareness lectures in schools, colleges, recreational places and bus stands on a daily basis.

He said the objective behind holding the lectures was to discourage the underage drivers and highlight the advantages of wearing helmets.
