DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said on Sunday that the western route of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) would bring prosperity in the southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He was talking to reporters after examining work on the western route of CPEC at Rehmanikhel area here. Fazlur Rehman, Chairman of National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Kashmir, further said the western route would help develop an industrial city near Dera Ismail Khan. He said it would change the destiny of the local people.

The JUI-F chief accused the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led provincial government of trying to shift the proposed industrial zone from Dera Ismail Khan to Rashakai area in Mardan.

“We will not tolerate this injustice and would take to the streets for our rights,” he vowed.

Fazlur Rehman added that work was underway to construct link roads to connect Dera Ismail Khan and Lakki Marwat districts to Punjab.

The JUI-F chief visited various portions of the motorway and hailed the commitment of the National Highway Authority (NHA) and National Logistics Cell (NLC).

“This project was crucial for the development of the entire region. And our efforts yielded results as the game-changer project is going on successfully,” he added.
